Four and a Half Billion People

What would you sacrifice for family?

Praise for Four and a Half Billion People:

“This book is for anyone who’s ever felt that if you were to fall down, the whole thing would collapse. So you didn’t, you didn’t fall down.”

“The beautifully rendered characters, masterful court narrative, and empathy Catherine Pomeroy brings to the table makes Four and a Half Billion People a book that’s very hard to put down.”

“The first must read piece of literature of 2022.”

The second edition release of The Gulch Jumpers

Would you sell your soul to the crossroads?

Praise for The Gulch Jumpers:

The story sends an unlikely trio on a road trip from the rust belt into Appalachia and the deep south. The Gulch Jumpers shows that we are not alone in this world; we live our lives on the journeys that we share with others.”

This book was chosen for my book club and we all loved it! The road trip that the story revolves around kept me guessing and had so many memorable moments…

Ray and Brandy’s stories were shared with such beauty and dignity…and truth.”

Enjoyed the novel. Looking forward to this author’s next work.

How about 2021?!?!??

2021 brought a fond farewell to my affiliation with S & H Publishing and great excitement for the 2nd edition release of my debut novel The Gulch Jumpers with No Bad Books Press, San Diego, California.  Check them out: http://No Bad Books Press

I’m raring to go with author events/appearances.

What the heck happened in 2020?!??

2020 started with a book club selecting The Gulch Jumpers for their January read, which was humbling and exciting. Five book clubs have now read my novel.  (Yay!)  I attended some writing workshops (remotely since the pandemic hit), and joined a local anti-racist book club. But most importantly, I completed a working draft of my second novel which was graced by the hands of a very capable editor!

My new novel, Four and a Half Billion People, is the story of a single mother in late 1970’s small town- southern Ohio grappling with the fallout after her neurodivergent teenage son James is charged with Vehicular Homicide. But James has a secret… a secret worth going to jail for. Cycling and Synesthesia are also woven in!

Other than that, I think we can all agree 2020 was not the year anyone expected. Amidst Zoom meetings, backyard wading pools, banana bread & homemade casseroles, face masks and social distancing, reading remains a wonderful outlet to enrich our souls. Looking for escape? Getting lost in a good novel is a vacation for your head.

On a Personal Note…

Everyone has a story. Writing my debut novel, The Gulch Jumpers, was an exercise in love – a love letter, really, to my “down on the farm” family roots, the power of music, what it means to be a parent, and my belief that law is personal. The story was also a fun way for me to indulge my sense of adventure, travel, and the magic of a road trip. On a road trip time slows down, new experiences are heightened and interesting bonds are forged as friends brave the unknown. Adventures and risks, even if they seem silly or don’t make any sense, open up new worlds of possibilities. We are forced to manage our fear. If we pay attention and listen, we are shown what we didn’t even know that we didn’t know. Putting trust in the magic of the experience and the goodness of others makes us better.
